Job summary

Advantage Truck Group in Shrewsbury, MA is hiring an Apprentice Diesel Technician to start a paid apprenticeship on the 1st shift with pathway to a full Technician role on the 2nd shift after completion. The program runs 6–9 months and includes hands-on training, web-based instruction, and mentorship from experienced technicians.

During the apprenticeship you will diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, and safely service trucks and heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade certificate preferred.
• Current, valid driver’s license.
• Strong general mechanical knowledge and aptitude.
• High degree of reliability, trustworthiness, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test drive, and diagnose malfunctions in buses, trucks, and heavy equipment; read and interpret diagnostic test results; consult with customers on diagnostic findings.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, battery checks, lubrication); adjust and align wheels; repair or replace malfunctioning mechanical and electrical components.
• Safely raise trucks, buses, and heavy equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
• Test-drive vehicles post-repair to verify proper operation and safety.
• Complete all required web-based and classroom training sessions on or before assigned due dates.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
