Job summary

Advantage Truck Group in Shrewsbury, MA is seeking an Apprentice Diesel Technician to join our team on the 2nd shift. This paid apprenticeship blends hands-on training, web-based instruction, and mentorship from experienced techs to prepare you for a full technician role.

During 6 to 9 months, you will learn preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on trucks and heavy equipment, with a clear path to full-time employment after completion.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Technical or Trade School certificate preferred.
• Current, valid driver’s license.
• Strong general mechanical knowledge and aptitude.
• High degree of reliability, trustworthiness, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test drive, and diagnose malfunctions in buses, trucks, and heavy equipment; read and interpret diagnostic test results; consult with customers on diagnostic findings.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, battery checks, lubrication); adjust and align wheels; repair or replace malfunctioning mechanical and electrical components.
• Safely raise trucks, buses, and heavy equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
• Test-drive vehicles post-repair to verify proper operation and safety.
• Complete all required web-based and classroom training sessions on or before assigned due dates.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
