Job summary

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is seeking a PACU nurse to provide high-quality pre- and post-operative care in a busy PACU. You will prepare patients for surgery, manage anesthesia recovery, and educate patients and families. ICU experience is preferred, and ACLS/BLS certifications are required for qualification.

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut RN License.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
• ICU experience preferred; will consider ED, step-down and floor-level experience.
• BSN Preferred.
• BLS certification by the American Heart Association required prior to date of hire.
• ACLS required for external candidates.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-operative care in the PACU.
• Initiate IVs, administer medications, provide patient education, and document care.
• Recover patients from anesthesia and manage postoperative care per ASPAN guidelines.
• Provide care in a 10-bed PACU across multiple surgical services.
• Support 24/7 coverage with on-call requirements; maintain a 2:1 patient ratio.
