Job summary

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is seeking a Post-anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurse to join our acute-care team in Connecticut. Responsibilities include pre- and post-operative patient care, IV initiation, medication administration, patient education, and meticulous documentation.

The unit provides 24/7 coverage with some on-call requirements, a 2:1 nurse/patient ratio, and opportunities to work across multiple surgical specialties.

Qualifications

• Connecticut RN license and hospital-based nursing training.
• ICU/ED/step-down or floor experience considered.
• ACLS certification required for external candidates.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-operative care in PACU.
• Initiate IVs, administer medications, and document care.
• Educate patients and validate required documentation.
• Monitor and manage postoperative recovery for diverse surgical services.
• Collaborate with ICU/ED and floor teams; participate in 24/7 coverage with on-call.
