Job summary

Sierra Medical Center, part of Northern Nevada Health System, is seeking a Registered Nurse in the PACU on a per diem basis. You will provide direct patient care across ages from infant to geriatric, monitor physiological status, and assist with equipment and inventory in the PACU.

The role supports performance improvement activities and collaborates with surgeons and anesthesiologists. The position emphasizes pain management, adherence to nursing and hospital policies, and ensuring homeostasis.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
• Current Nevada nursing license.
• Current BLS certificate.
• Prefer one year full time or three years part time experience in acute care PACU setting.
• Current ACLS required.
• Handle with Care (or obtained within six months of employment) in required specialty.
• Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates supportive behaviors necessary for performing bedside report using IMAP & SBAR.
• Perform head to toe pre-procedure assessment on all patients and reassesses post procedure as needed.
• Ability to formulate an individualized plan of care as indicated and evaluates for effectiveness.
• Adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
• Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
