Job summary

Sierra Medical Center, part of Northern Nevada Health System, seeks a Registered Nurse for the PACU on a per diem basis in Reno, NV. The role provides direct care across the surgical population, supporting anesthesia and surgical teams in a fast-paced PACU environment.

Responsibilities include comprehensive pre- and post-procedure assessments, pain management, and patient/family education, with emphasis on safety, communication, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
• Current Nevada nursing license.
• Current BLS certificate.
• ACLS required.
• Prefer one year full time or three years part time experience in acute care PACU setting.
• Must successfully pass pre-employment assessment(s).

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates supportive behaviours for bedside report using IMAP & SBAR.
• Head to toe pre-procedure assessment on all patients and reassess post procedure as needed.
• Formulates an individualized plan of care and evaluates effectiveness.
• Assess and reassess pain; use appropriate pain management techniques.
• Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
