Job summary

Ascension is seeking a PACU Registered Nurse for Northwest Hills Surgical Hospital in Austin, TX. You will provide expert post-operative nursing care for high-acuity patients during the immediate recovery phase.

This role requires strict adherence to AORN/ASPAN standards, aseptic technique, and vigilant monitoring to ensure safe transitions in a high-volume setting. Night shifts, full-time with on-call and one holiday.

Qualifications

• Texas RN license obtained prior to hire date.
• ACLS or BLS certification within required windows.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program.
• 1+ year PACU/ICU RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert, direct nursing care for high-acuity patients in the immediate post-operative period, maintaining strict adherence to standards and aseptic technique.
• Evaluate physiological responses to anesthesia and surgical interventions to anticipate needs and potential complications.
• Implement aggressive, individualized pain management strategies to stabilize patients during recovery.
• Act as an advocate in a Level 1 setting, ensuring safe transitions and outcomes in a high-volume surgical environment.
