Job summary

UAB Medicine, Alabama's largest health system, is seeking an experienced RN for perioperative services. You will contribute to a high-volume surgical department with 60+ operating suites and a focus on clinical excellence, teamwork, and innovation.

Responsibilities include applying the nursing process, coordinating care with surgeons and staff, and delivering safe, cost-effective patient care. A BSN is preferred and current RN license in Alabama is required or eligible.

Qualifications

• 1+ year Acute Care experience preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.

Responsibilities

• To utilize the nursing process to care and counsel individuals in health promotion and disease prevention.
• Identify patient needs using the AACN Synergy Model.
• To delegate, coordinate and manage all aspects of nursing care for the patient and family.
• Collaborate with the health care team to deliver patient care in a timely and cost-effective manner.
