Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse to provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative period. You will follow AORN/ASPAN aseptic standards, evaluate responses to treatments, manage pain, and anticipate case-specific needs based on procedures and pathophysiology.

Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program and active licensure as an ADN/BSN RN in Alabama with BLS and ACLS within specified timelines.

Qualifications

BLS Provider obtained within 30 days of hire date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 months of hire date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative or post-procedural period.
Follow aseptic sterile technique according to AORN/ASPAN standards.
Evaluate patient responses to treatments and interventions.
Manage patient’s pain and anticipate case-specific needs based on procedure and pathophysiology.
