Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking a PRN OR post-anesthesia care nurse to join the Surgery Recovery Room. You will provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative period and ensure patient safety, comfort, and pain management.

The role requires BLS/ACLS certifications, Alabama RN licensure, and graduate of an accredited nursing program, with strong aseptic technique and bedside collaboration with the perioperative team. PRN days, M-F shifts.

Qualifications

• BLS Certification within 1 month of hire date.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire date.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed by Alabama Board of Nursing prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care for anesthetized patients in the immediate post-operative period.
• Follow aseptic sterile technique according to AORN/ASPAN standards.
• Evaluate patient responses to treatments and interventions.
• Manage patient pain and comfort.
• Anticipate case-specific needs based on procedure(s) performed and pathophysiology.
