Job summary

TOPS Surgical Specialty Hospital in Indiana is seeking a PRN PACU Registered Nurse to support postoperative care and ensure smooth surgical operations. The PACU RN will monitor patients emerging from anesthesia, perform assessments, develop care plans, and coordinate discharge planning with families while maintaining safety and comfort.

Experience in PACU or critical care is preferred; BLS/ACLS are required, with PALS if applicable.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing.
• Active RN license in the state of Texas.
• BLS and ACLS required (PALS if required by the center).
• 2 years of PACU or Critical Care experience preferred.
• Ability to make sound decisions based on nursing judgment.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to prioritize and organize workload to meet patient and unit needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to individuals emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients and families before discharge.
• Assist physicians with tasks in procedure rooms, including conscious sedation and sterile techniques as appropriate.

The PACU Registered Nurse provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient’s condition to ensure safety, comfort, and privacy at all times. This role includes:

• Providing comprehensive patient care to individuals emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation.
• Performing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for both patients and families in preparation for discharge.
• Assisting physicians as needed with tasks in the procedure rooms, including conscious sedation and utilizing sterile techniques as appropriate.
