Job summary

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures.

This role monitors patients throughout the post-anesthesia phase, administers medications and treatments, responds to changes in patient condition, and collaborates with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state of practice (NJ).
• Active BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Previous PACU, perioperative or related nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and evaluate patients during post-anesthesia recovery.
• Administer medications and treatments per policies and standards.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition and emergencies.
• Collaborate with physicians and anesthesia providers to coordinate care.
• Educate patients and caregivers regarding recovery and discharge instructions.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately.
• Maintain compliance with safety and quality standards.
