Job summary

Independence Health System Inc. seeks a PACU Nurse to monitor patients after anesthesia and support the care team during sedation recovery. You will track vital signs, document findings, and respond to changes in patient status with prompt communication to physicians and nurses.

The role involves administering medications, managing dressings, and educating patients and families on post-surgery home care, with a focus on safety and comfort.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a State board approved program of Professional nursing.
• Holds a current RN license.
• Critical Care experience preferred.
• Certified in basic CPR, ACLS, and PALS.
• Maintains position specific skills, and competencies as required on annual basis.
• Maintains CEU's appropriates to discipline in order to maintain Licensure.

Responsibilities

• Observing patients, for side effects of anesthesia.
• Monitoring, and recording patient vital signs
• Monitoring patient's level of consciousness throughout sedation recovery.
• Performing post-operative tasks, such as administering medication or changing dressings.
• Checking and updating patient files, charts, and medical records.
• Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, physicians, and other members of patients care team.
• Providing comfort, and answering questions when patients wake from sedation
• Educating patients, and families regarding post-surgery care at home.
