UChicago Medicine is seeking a Staff Nurse for the DCAM Pre-Op/PACU department on the Hyde Park campus. This onsite role supports perioperative care from preoperative through recovery, collaborating with physicians, anesthesia providers, and the broader team to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes.

Responsibilities include comprehensive assessments, perioperative nursing care, medication administration, and patient education.

Qualifications

• NLN-accredited nursing program graduate.
• Active Illinois RN license.
• BLS certification.
• Associate degree or higher in nursing.

Responsabilités

• Performs comprehensive patient assessments and develops individualized plans of care.
• Provides preoperative and postoperative nursing care based on established standards of practice.
• Prepares patients for surgical and procedural services, including verification of required documentation, testing, and physician orders.
• Monitors patients during recovery from anesthesia and communicates changes in condition.
• Administers medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments per orders and policy.
• Provides patient and family education related to procedures, recovery, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Documents assessments, interventions, medications, patient responses, and discharge planning.
• Collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe patient care.

Formation

Associate Degree in Nursing or higher

NLN-accredited School of Nursing

Current Illinois Registered Nurse license

Current Basic Life Support certification
