Job summary

Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL is seeking a 1.0 FTE Clinical Nurse in Pre/Post-Op for PACU/ICU/ER experience. The role emphasizes patient-centered care, care planning, and advocacy within a collaborative team.

You will develop individualized care plans, participate in research and quality initiatives, ensure patient safety, and support families throughout the perioperative process. Nursing licensure and CPR certification are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN accredited nursing program.
• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher.
• Current State of Illinois, Registered Professional Nurse license.
• CPR certification required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 35 pounds and push/pull up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Practices in accordance with the patient-centered care model.
• Develops an individualized age-specific culturally sensitive nursing plan of care for the patient.
• Incorporates the role of patient advocate into the plan of care.
• Uses a team approach to develop and achieve daily patient-centered goals.
• Respects and involves patients' families as part of the plan of care.
• Identifies potential conflicts and facilitates resolution through established channels.
• Maintains patient safety and a safe environment.
• Participates in research and quality improvement initiatives.
• Provides safe postoperative care including assessment and discharge teaching.
• Identifies pre-anesthetic risk factors.
