Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Pre/Post-Op Clinical Nurse in Chicago with a minimum of two years of current nursing experience in PACU, ICU, or ER. The role is a 1.0 FTE position, 40 hours per week across four 10-hour shifts, focused on patient-centered care and safety.

The nurse will develop individualized care plans, advocate for patients and families, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality postoperative and recovery care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN accredited school/college of nursing.
• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher.
• Current State of Illinois, Registered Professional Nurse license.
• Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation recognition (healthcare provider level).
• Analytic ability (conceptual and quantitative).
• Oral, listening and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Practices in accordance with the patient-centered care model.
• Develops an individualized age-specific culturally sensitive nursing plan of care.
• Incorporates the role of patient advocate into the plan of care.
• Uses a team approach to achieve daily patient-centered goals.
• Contributes to research-related activities including evidence-based practice and quality improvement.
