Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to provide direct patient care and assist with non-direct unit coordination. The role includes supporting the RN in care of acutely ill patients, maintaining patient dignity and privacy, and documenting care in the electronic medical record.

Responsibilities include vital signs, specimen collection, phlebotomy, I&O tracking, and aiding in admissions/discharges.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• 1 year in an acute or long-term care facility OR enrolled in an Associate's in Nursing (halfway through program) or Bachelor's in Nursing (Junior year).
• Basic computer skills.
• Proficient in phlebotomy and straight catheterization.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and coordinates non-direct patient care unit activities.
• Assists RN in care of acutely ill patients and supports time management.
• Documents vital signs, I&O, and treatments in the electronic medical record.
• Participates in unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
