Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient care technician to provide direct patient care and assist with unit coordination. The role supports RNs in caring for acutely ill patients and ensuring a safe, clean, and compliant patient environment.

Responsibilities include documenting vital signs, assisting with exams, and participating in quality initiatives. A High School diploma and nursing program in progress are required, with CPR certification and background checks mandated.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• 1 year in an acute or long-term care facility or enrolled in an Associate's in Nursing or Bachelor's in Nursing program.
• Basic computer skills.
• Proficient in phlebotomy and straight catheterization.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents direct patient care (ADLs, vitals, medications, specimen collection, EKG, etc.).
• Participates in quality/patient satisfaction initiatives and hourly rounding.
• Documents changes in patient condition and communicates with nursing staff.
• Performs unit coordination tasks: admissions, discharges, transfers, supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
