Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a patient care assistant to provide direct patient care and assist the RN in caring for patients in a stable condition. This role includes documenting care in the EMR and coordinating with the care team for admissions, discharges and transfers.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, relevant PCA/PCT/NA/LPN/EMT experience, and basic computer skills. Candidates should be prepared for a fast-paced hospital environment with emphasis on safety and privacy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience as a PCA, PCT, NA, LPN, EMT, HM or similar.
• 1 year in an acute or long-term care facility or enrolled in nursing program.
• Basic computer skills.
• Proficient in IV insertion, phlebotomy, straight catheterization and cardiac rhythm training.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents direct patient care and activities such as ADLs, vital signs, specimen collection, and basic procedures per protocol.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives and unit safety practices.
• Accurately documents vitals, I/O, and treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Supports unit activities including supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
