Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a seasoned PACU nurse to collaborate with the Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care teams. You will develop and implement care plans for post-anesthesia patients, monitor outcomes, and assist with discharge readiness in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a BSN, 2+ years in PACU and ICU, and flexibility to work weekends and on-call shifts. PALS or willingness to obtain within 90 days is required, with English proficiency essential.

Qualifications

• 2 years PACU experience and 2 years ICU in a critical care unit.
• Flex schedule including weekends and on call after hours.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients in the PACU.
• Perform professional nursing duties that assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient during the post-anesthesia period.
• Evaluate patient outcomes and readiness for discharge from PACU.
• Act as a role model and mentor to students and nurses.
• Function as a Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager.
