Job summary

Rhode Island Hospital seeks an experienced registered nurse to implement, supervise, and evaluate peri-operative care using the nursing process. You will provide intensive care to post-anesthesia patients as assigned, from admission to discharge, focusing on the aging process and cultural patterns as part of holistic care.

The role requires RN licensure in Rhode Island (or a compact state), a baccalaureate in nursing preferred, and BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in Rhode Island or a state in the Nurse Licensure Compact.
• BLS/ACLS/PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Renders professional nursing care to peri-operative patients including chart review, medications, IVs, ECG, venipuncture, catheterization and other treatments.
• Initiates or participates in life-saving procedures and CPR as needed.
• Plans and implements nursing care with professional judgment and coordinates with physicians.
• Reviews charts and ensures pre-operative medications and orders are carried out.
• Verifies patient identity prior to surgery and prepares for the procedure.
• Assess and prepare preoperative patients, including testing results review and education.
• Provides patient/family education for the preoperative patient.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to address patient needs and ensure learning readiness.
