UPMC is seeking a PACS Administrator I to oversee operation and maintenance of imaging systems across departments. The role emphasizes system upgrades, data integrity, and collaboration with physicians and IT teams to improve workflows and support regulatory compliance.

The incumbent will coordinate interactions among imaging IT resources, provide training, and ensure smooth interfaces with vendors, ensuring uninterrupted imaging operations.

• Experience implementing and supporting imaging IT systems (PACS/RIS/PowerScribe).
• Ability to train users and troubleshoot imaging applications.

Purpose:
Under the direction of the director, the PACS Administrator I is accountable for the following aspects of operations for all imaging departments: Proper operation and maintenance of all computer information systems within Imaging Services. Coordinate interaction/interface activities between and among all necessary systems. Plan, coordinate and implement system upgrades to include all computer information systems within Imaging Services. Work closely with all divisions of the department and the appropriate management teams. Will involve a high degree of interaction with a diverse population of UPMC staff and physicians as well as interaction with vendors.
Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the implementation, testing, and optimization of PACS, RIS, PowerScribe, and other medical imaging applications and technologies.
• Serve as the primary application resource for medical imaging systems, providing training, troubleshooting, ongoing support, and issue resolution in collaboration with IT and vendors.
• Monitor and maintain RIS/PACS data integrity, including DICOM image management, patient record validation, interface support, and exception correction.
• Participate in system upgrades, new modality integrations, application enhancements, and capital equipment implementations, ensuring adherence to change control and testing standards.
• Analyze operational workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and develop solutions to enhance efficiency, quality, and user experience across imaging services.
• Develop, maintain, and support departmental and system-wide policies, procedures, and training materials related to imaging applications and workflows.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, leaders, technologists, IT teams, and vendors to support operational needs and strategic imaging initiatives.
• Provide on-call support as needed and assist with regulatory, licensing, and compliance activities to ensure uninterrupted imaging operations
