Job summary

H2ajobs is seeking a farm laborer to inspect, grade and sort crops and to operate grain conditioning equipment to meet quality standards. You will assist in loading grain onto semi-trucks and transporting to terminals, while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

Role requires basic mechanical aptitude, the ability to lift 50 lbs, and at least 3 months of experience. English fluency is required to communicate with team members and supervisors.

Qualifications

• Three months of recent and verifiable experience required for listed duties.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to obtain a valid driver's license after hire and maintain a clean driving record.
• Drug test may be required at no cost to the worker and adherence to drug-free workplace policy.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, grade and sort crops by color, species, length, width, appearance and quality.
• Operate and monitor grain conditioning equipment to ensure quality standards.
• Load semis and transport grain to terminals; assist with weighing and routing.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and perform basic equipment maintenance.
• Assist in wildlife habitat management on the farm as needed.

Job description

Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, and storage of crops, Grade and sort products according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearance, feel, smell, and quality to ensure correct processing and usage. Operate and monitor grain conditioning equipment to ensure efficient and safe conditioning of grain to meet quality standards. Place products in containers according to grade. Weigh products or estimate their weight, visually or by feel. Discard inferior or defective products or foreign matter, and place acceptable products in containers for further processing. Guide products to regulate flow through machines, and to discard diseased or rotten products. monitor and report grain moisture and grades. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including cleaning conditioning equipment, storage areas, and surrounding facilities. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and the team. Load semi-trucks with hopper bottom trailers without over or underfilling trailers; drive and deliver grain to terminals using semi-trucks. Operate fans and other equipment to condition grain and control moisture levels. Repair equipment as needed which may include but not be limited to replacing bearings, belts, drivelines, u-joints, filters, grease, oil, seals, gears, chains and other parts as needed. Assist in the management and preservation of wildlife habitat on the farm during the migration of waterfowl and deer such as: maintaining wire; removing debris; servicing wetlands; controlling weed pressure; inspect and record wildlife population; maintain adequate levels in ponds and wetland reserve program; Perform manual labor necessary to develop, maintain, or protect areas such as forested areas, woodlands, wetlands. Must be able to speak and understand English.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities, all of which are in working order, including refrigeration, space for food preparation, cooking accessories and utensils, appliances, and dishwashing facilities so that workers may prepare their own meals. Kitchen facilities include adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure. Employer will provide transportation once a week to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries, when the employer is providing cooking and kitchen facilities.

Experience wanted: 3 months

Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a drug test at no cost to the worker and be subject to the employers drug free and alcohol free workplace policy including testing protocols. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
