Blount Fine Foods Corp. in Fall River, MA is seeking a Packaging Technician Lead for the second shift (4:15pm-2am). You will ensure continuous, trouble-free operation of the Cup Pack out line and work to keep production on schedule.

The role requires hands-on maintenance, timely PMs, and collaboration with maintenance and production teams to minimize downtime. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k match, vacation, and training support.

• Daily maintenance of all Packout line equipment.
• Provide daily review of work activities and PM results to the Maintenance team with updates throughout the day.
• Review manufacturer’s service manuals and maintenance schedules to determine preventive maintenance frequency.
• Repair of any breakdowns during production.
• Coordinate with other departments to schedule maintenance and minimize downtime.
• Proactive line adjustments to prevent downtime.
• Maintain optimal spare parts inventory and assist in equipment upgrades.
• Assist in training operators and line technicians for equipment operation.
• Evaluate equipment condition and report findings.
• Promote a safe working environment.

This position is second shift, hours are 4:15pm-2am.

The pay range for this job is $26.50-$27.16/hour.

Summary

The Packaging Technician Lead position is responsible for the continuous and “trouble free” running of all equipment incorporated within the Cup Pack out processing department.

Responsibilities

• Daily maintenance of all Packout line equipment
• Provides a daily review of work activities/personnel status and PM results to the CPO Manager and Maintenance team with updates for substantial issues (any event that might affect production, or product quality) throughout the day.
• Reviews manufacturer’s service manuals, Blount Fine Foods equipment usage schedules, and records of maintenance problems to determine the optimum frequency of preventative maintenance.
• Repair of any breakdowns during normal production.
• Regularly checks production schedules and confers with other departments, managers, and staff to determine when planned maintenance at least interferes with operations.
• Proactive line adjustments, to prevent lost processing time.
• Continuous equipment Preventative Maintenance, to eliminate or minimize future processing “downtime”
• Ability to learn all aspects of processing line equipment, with the ability to teach others key primary adjustments
• Ability to identify product variation to set up machinery in a timely manner.
• Ensure an optimal level of spare parts and equipment are kept in stock to minimize unscheduled operations downtime, while minimizing cost of inventory.
• Proactive approach to mitigate processes lost time between production runs.
• Promotes a safe working environment for self as well as coworkers
• Assists in training and development of the machine operators and line technicians for equipment and process controls operation.
• Ability to assist Maintenance team in mechanical breakdowns.
• Assist Maintenance team with modifications/fabrications to machine parts to maintain equipment performance and safety.
• Assist in evaluating manufacturing processes, suggest alternative improvements to equipment that improve and reduce repetitive downtime occurrences.
• Evaluate and report equipment condition.

Positional accountabilities

• Understand implications of “down time” and inefficient processing.
• Understand how to react to such matters, to minimize downtime incurred.
• Develop a proactive approach to address potential downtime obstructions.
• Responsible for any processing line, equipment based, “Down Time”.
• “Your equipment, your “Down Time”.
• Effective and continuous communication with Maintenance and Lead to discuss any resolve any hindrances to processing line time.

Requirements

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Basic knowledge of computer and software processing is necessary.
• Must be mechanically inclined
• One year certificate from college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year previous experience leading a team.
