Job summary

Riviana Foods Inc. is seeking a Packaging Supervisor to lead hourly personnel across one or more packaging departments in Memphis. The role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant daily operations while coordinating with Production, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Quality teams.

You’ll supervise line staffing, oversee line changes, maintain logs, enforce GMP/SQF, and drive continuous improvement in packaging workflows. Strong leadership and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
• Experience supervising in manufacturing or related environment; food manufacturing preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety standards (GFSI/SQF) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assign and move personnel on production lines to meet operational needs.
• Communicate line status with plant scheduler and supervisors daily.
• Coordinate packaging supply requirements with warehouse and production teams.
• Maintain daily shift logs and assign cost center placements in time systems.
• Oversee rice transfers to meet packaging schedules.
• Notify maintenance of equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs.
• Direct and train personnel on-line duties and safety procedures.
• Participate in line adjustments and troubleshooting for packaging lines.
• Manage employee relations and resolve conflicts; negotiate with union stewards as needed.
• Maintain GMP, HACCP, and sanitation procedures in assigned areas.
• Document sanitation schedules and related records.
• Monitor product quality with QC personnel.
• Conduct safety meetings and enforce safety policies.
• Submit daily packaging reports to Packaging Superintendent.
• Enforce company policies and maintain 5S cleanliness.
