Job summary

LANXESS in Memphis is seeking a Packaging Operator to perform packaging operations per customer orders, operate machinery safely, and conduct minor repairs.

You will handle hazardous and non-hazardous materials in line with plant requirements and environmental regulations, stock materials, and support continuous improvement efforts while meeting production targets and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 years packaging experience preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to work a rotating shift schedule - 12 hour shifts.
  • Willingness and ability to wear PPE such as steel toes, hardhat, protective eyewear, face shields, arc protective clothing, and SCBA.
  • Willing and able to work in a high-hazard process.
  • Willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs and stand for long periods.

  • Perform packaging operations as per the customer orders.
  • Operate packaging machinery effectively to avoid accidents.
  • Ensure machines are working properly and safely; conduct minor repairs to packaging equipment.
  • Safe handling of hazardous and non-hazardous materials per plant requirements and environmental regulations.
  • Stock all raw materials needed for packaging (e.g., pallets, slip sheets, tape, labels, trash boxes, ties).
  • Maintain core values of safety, health, environmental responsibility, ethics, and respect for people.
  • Aim for production targets and quality standards; support continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience / Skills
  • Minimum of a High school diploma or GED
  • Work Experience 1-3 years
  • Willingness and ability to work a rotating shift schedule - 12 hour shifts.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime, including holidays, weekends, and on short notice call in as required.
  • Willingness and ability to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel toes, hardhat, protective eyewear, face shields, arc protective clothing, and SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus).
  • Willing and able to work in a high-hazard process.
  • Willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, ladders, columns, and to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, reach overhead, hear and respond to alarms, and possess visual acuity for close work.
