Job summary

Mars in Lebanon, TN is seeking a Packaging Operator to join our Royal Canin factory team. The role focuses on efficient packing line operation while upholding the highest safety and quality standards, with a emphasis on continuous improvement in the packaging area.

The position requires a high school diploma, experience in food manufacturing, and the ability to operate high-speed packing equipment. Mechanical aptitude is a plus, and you will work a 12-hour shift with a set 4-on/4-off schedule.

Responsibilities

• Set up automated packing machines and load packing materials.
• Troubleshoot jams, rework defective packaging and maintain glue/ink supplies.
• Perform and document quality checks ensuring safety and food standards.
• Follow safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout during operations.

Here at Mars, we have an exciting opportunity for an individual seeking employment to come and join our Royal Canin factory team as a Packaging Operator. The Packaging Operator will be a multi-skilled packing associate who is responsible for achieving maximum efficiency of our packing lines whilst ensuring the highest safety and quality standards are maintained. The Packaging Operator will also play a pivotal role in identifying and delivering continuous improvement projects within the packaging hall.

Shift

• All positions work 12-hour schedules.
• 4 days on and 4 days off- set schedule.
• Days: 6:00 am to 6:30 pm

What are we looking for?

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in food manufacturing environment and operating high speed packing machines.
• Mechanical background desirable, but not essential
• Ability to multi-task

Key responsibilities

• Machine Setup and Maintenance: Setting up automated packing machines, loading packing materials, making machine adjustments, and ensuring proper sanitation.
• Troubleshooting and Repairs: Clearing machine jams, reworking defective packaging, troubleshooting machine faults, and maintaining glue and ink supplies.
• Quality Assurance: Performing and documenting quality checks throughout the packaging process. Ensures compliance with all Quality, Food Safety, and Legislative standards.
• Safety Practices: Following safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, to safely conduct equipment operations and routine maintenance.
• Equipment Management: Completing Cleaning, Inspection, and Lubrication (CIL) tasks according to daily, weekly, and monthly schedules to maintain equipment functionality and cleanliness.
• This role demands attention to detail, adherence to safety and quality standards, and the ability to manage equipment autonomously.
• The position holder is trained to perform other jobs consistent with the skill level and physical demands of this position.
