Job summary

Mars in Columbia, SC is seeking an Operator Filling Line to operate packaging equipment, perform line changeovers, and ensure efficient production of high-quality products. You will work with a manufacturing team and support training of other members.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 1 year in manufacturing, experience operating packaging machines, and ability to lift and stand for shifts.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs activities and job tasks within a manufacturing line or area
• Operates equipment and changeovers in a safe and efficient manner
• Takes corrective actions in solving problems to root cause level
• Able to assess equipment operating reliability and perform routine repairs, adjustments, and malfunction troubleshooting
• Performs and/or works with Maintenance to complete equipment preventative maintenance (PM)
• Performs quality control (QC) tasks such as metal checks, inspection of date codes, item numbers, dump logs, etc.
• Maintain accurate records of quality check and keeps detailed logbooks
• Any ad hoc tasks

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent education
• 1 year experience in manufacturing
• Prior experience operating packaging machines

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent lifting/carrying pushing (10-50 lbs) and pushing/pulling (50-300 lbs)
• Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling and gripping
• Ability to work at elevated heights, climb stairs, leaning over equipment and work in confined spaces
• Ability to stand and/or work on feet for extended periods (minimum eight hours in one shift).
• Ability to read, write and speak English

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
• JDA and ATLAS knowledge or other warehouse management systems experience
• Experience maintaining accurate inventory records
• Forklift certification
