Mars, Incorporated and its Affiliates is seeking a Packaging Operator for our Lebanon, TN facility. The role involves operating and maintaining automated packing lines, performing quality checks, and ensuring safety and sanitation standards are met.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, experience in a food manufacturing environment, and the ability to multi-task across packing lines. The position offers a 4 days on 4 days off schedule with days 6:00 am to 6:30 pm.

Qualifications

• Experience in a food manufacturing environment is required.
• Experience operating high-speed packing machines is preferred.
• Mechanical background is desirable but not required.
• Ability to multi-task across multiple lines and tasks.

Responsibilities

• Set up automated packing machines and load packing materials, adjust settings and sanitize equipment.
• Troubleshoot jams, rework defective packaging and maintain glue/ink supplies.
• Perform and document quality checks to ensure Quality and Food Safety standards.
• Follow safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout for safe operations and maintenance.
• Complete Cleaning, Inspection, and Lubrication (CIL) tasks on schedule to keep equipment clean.
• Willingness to perform other duties within skill level as needed.

The Packaging Operator will be a multi-skilled packing associate who is responsible for achieving maximum efficiency of our packing lines whilst ensuring the highest safety and quality standards are maintained. The Packaging Operator will also play a pivotal role in identifying and delivering continuous improvement projects within the packaging hall.

Shift:

This role will be a day position.

• All positions work 12-hour schedules.
• 4 days on and 4 days off- set schedule.
• Days: 6:00 am to 6:30 pm

What are we looking for?

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in food manufacturing environment and operating high speed packing machines.
• Mechanical background desirable, but not essential
• Ability to multi-task

What will be your key responsibilities?

The Packaging Operator is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of automated packing machines.

Key duties include:

• Machine Setup and Maintenance: Setting up automated packing machines, loading packing materials, making machine adjustments, and ensuring proper sanitation.
• Troubleshooting and Repairs: Clearing machine jams, reworking defective packaging, troubleshooting machine faults, and maintaining glue and ink supplies.
• Quality Assurance: Performing and documenting quality checks throughout the packaging process. Ensures compliance with all Quality, Food Safety, and Legislative standards.
• Safety Practices: Following safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, to safely conduct equipment operations and routine maintenance.
• Equipment Management: Completing Cleaning, Inspection, and Lubrication (CIL) tasks according to daily, weekly, and monthly schedules to maintain equipment functionality and cleanliness.
• This role demands attention to detail, adherence to safety and quality standards, and the ability to manage equipment autonomously.
• The position holder is trained to perform other jobs consistent with the skill level and physical demands of this position.
