Job Details

• Position: Packaging Machine Operator - DAY Shift
• Location: Bellwood
• Schedule: 2/2/3, 4AM-4PM, every other weekend off

Position Summary

The machine operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various machines to ensure continuous, efficient production. Responsibilities include operating machines for functions such as palletizing, bagging, pouching, cartoning, filling, labeling, capping, packing, or wrapping containers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead filling machine setup and changeover for production runs
• Follow work instructions, standards, and SOPs for equipment setup and changeover
• Identify and resolve issues during setup and changeover
• Ensure packaging materials meet specifications and quality standards; replenish supplies as needed
• Feed product to conveyors, hoppers, scales, or other feeding devices
• Operate packaging equipment, troubleshoot, and make adjustments as needed
• Perform quality checks and inspect filled containers for compliance
• Remove rejected products as instructed by metal detector alarms
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues at the entry maintenance mechanic level
• Follow escalation protocols when troubleshooting fails
• Collaborate with maintenance support for mechanical issues
• Adhere to company policies, GMP, and safety standards
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience operating packaging machinery or in food manufacturing preferred
• High school diploma or GED; or related experience/training
• Basic mathematical skills
• Understanding of equipment standards and proper set points
• Ability to pass certification for pallet jack and PIT
• Physical ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Team-oriented attitude, flexibility, and problem-solving skills
