JOB DETAILS

Base Pay: $19.50 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating heavy machinery and related gauges to perform various cutting, punching, forming, blocking, and processing operations. They must have thorough knowledge of production techniques and the ability to produce quality-building parts.

  • Understand and follow safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment.
  • Set up and operate machinery and equipment to cut, punch, form, or paint quality finished or semi-finished parts.
  • Operate computerized equipment and material handling equipment.
  • Operate various CNC-controlled machines, such as presses, lasers, and rolling mills in a fast-paced production setting, with an emphasis on safety and quality.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, adjustments, and lubrication on equipment and production tools as required to maintain proper operation.
  • Mark part numbers, order numbers, and the number of pieces on parts. Attach identification tags as required for customer to locate correct parts.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and other technical data to select the correct raw material or semi-finished parts.
  • Maintain continuous improvement practices in work area.
  • Provide cost-saving suggestions and ideas to improve productivity and eliminate waste.
  • Utilize scanning equipment.
  • Inspect work visually for defects according to Quality Systems.
  • Read a tape measure, write, and follow posted schedules.
  • Be a team player and prioritize safety.
  • May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader.
  • Willing and able to work overtime.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • At least one year of related work experience in manufacturing or a comparable environment.
  • At least one year operating manufacturing machinery and/or equipment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience with hand tools, wrenches, banding equipment, and nail guns.
  • Able to use measuring gauges and read a tape measure.
  • Forklift experience a plus / Must be trainable on forklift.
  • Crane experience a plus / Must be trainable on crane.
  • Flexible with working overtime and weekends when needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continually, above shoulder height and below waist.

This position may require overtime. Shifts vary from 8 to 12 hours depending on work orders and season.
