Job summary

Crown Bakeries in Dickson, TN seeks a Packaging Lead to supervise line operations and ensure products move smoothly through the packaging area, while upholding safety and quality standards.

You will lead a results-driven team, manage line setup and changeovers, monitor production against targets, coach staff, support GMP and safety programs, and drive continuous improvement across packaging lines. This role also requires lifting up to 50 pounds and flexibility for shifts, including weekends.

Qualifications

• Must be flexible with schedule, including start times and weekend work.
• Able to problem solve, learn on the fly, and make quality decisions.
• Able to lead a team and work independently in a noisy production environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead team in line setup and changeover of product, identifying critical controls and issues.
• Monitor hourly production vs. targets and apply countermeasures.
• Review staffing needs for the shift such as absences, new employees, and onboarding.
• Monitor and enforce control plan and maintain machine checks as a critical check point.
• Analyze root causes of production issues and develop corrective actions.
• Provide production run sheets to packaging machine operators to complete daily production run.
• Update production system and/or case total board with completed case counts to communicate goals to the next shift.
• Maintain raw material inventory and communicate discrepancies.
• Set up and operate multiple machines in the packaging area.
• Ensure enough materials are staged for product being produced.
• Ensure the correct amount of product is in bag and/or case.
• Train, develop, and motivate team members on job performance, quality and standardized work.
• Adhere to production schedules and minimize waste while meeting safety and quality standards.
• Remove out-of-spec product and notify supervisor of nonconforming items.
• Ensure safe operation and participate in safety programs.
• Attend monthly safety meetings.
• Coordinate with maintenance for repairs and improvements.
• Participate in GMP, sanitation, and safety inspections.
