Job summary

Jost Chemical is seeking a Packaging Crew Leader to join our Packaging Department in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. This role coordinates resources to balance employee safety, product quality, room and process compliance, and ship-date requirements, supervising a team of Packaging Operators and supporting the Packaging Manager as needed.

You will plan production, monitor performance, train staff, and drive improvements in yields and efficiency while maintaining audit-ready

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Demonstrated lead experience in a manufacturing setting is required.
• Proven, high-level operational and technical troubleshooting ability is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate equipment, packaging rooms, and the assigned team to achieve customer ship dates and maximize pounds packaged per shift.
• Ensure GMP compliance and controlled handling of exposed product.
• Ensure product quality, weight, labeling, and batch record requirements are met.
• Monitor quality issues, re-work, and repackaging needs.
• Assist in hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
• Report safety, quality, attendance, and counseling issues to Packaging Manager.
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs during shift.
• Ensure safety rules, PPE use, and incident prevention.
• Maintain clean, audit-ready packaging areas and proper record-keeping.
• Lead packaging improvements to increase yields and reduce waste.
• Operate hand trucks or forklifts and supervise shift personnel.
