Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Boston seeks a Director of Package Engineering to lead a technical team responsible for packaging development, commercialization and supply of Vertex medicines.

You will drive strategy, build leadership, and optimize processes across MS&T, Supply Chain and Commercial Manufacturing. The role requires deep expertise in primary packaging, regulatory packaging strategies, and team leadership, with travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Chemical, Mechanical, or related field.
• Typically requires 12 years of experience, including 5 years in leadership/management.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical packaging engineering and align across functions.
• Support regulatory packaging CMC strategy for market applications.
• Represent MS&T on corporate and strategic teams and with suppliers.
• Provide leadership to resolve critical packaging issues with stakeholders.
• Review and approve strategically important documents for the department.
• Define strategy and drive continuous improvement of packaging operations.
• Recruit, develop and mentor teams to sustain high performance.
• Set department goals and annual business plans to align with operations.
