Job summary

Institute on Aging (IOA) seeks a Participant Engagement Manager to lead PACE activity programming, supervise staff, and align services with IDT goals. You will foster engaging, participant-centered experiences across multiple day rooms while driving quality improvement and dementia-informed care.

You will oversee program development, staff training, and volunteer initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance and measurable outcomes in engagement and participation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Therapy, Music Therapy, Gerontology, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) strongly preferred; other relevant certifications considered based on experience.
  • First Aid and CPR certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in activity programming for older adults.
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Dementia certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop staff, lead change, and manage team dynamics.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and conflict-resolution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily supervision and leadership for Activity team members, modelling and coaching professional, participant-centered practices.
  • Establish clear expectations for performance and conduct regular coaching.
  • Develop staff through mentoring and routine competency checks; address performance concerns.
  • Hire, train, and onboard new team members; maintain consistency across day rooms.
  • Cultivate team engagement to promote goal alignment and effective communication.
  • Ensure programming aligns with IDT goals and regulatory requirements.
