Job summary

Eastern Iowa Community Colleges is seeking a Career Navigator to help students enroll in identified programs and develop partnerships with employers for work-based learning and employment opportunities.

The role emphasizes collaboration with area employers, program coordinators, and financial aid services to ensure student success and smooth transitions into the workforce.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year similar experience required
  • Preferred: computer proficiency, excellent organizational skills, marketing experience
  • Experience working in a team environment, good communication skills, and exceptional customer service skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates an on-going understanding of identified programs offered through EICC, and the workplace opportunities associated with each program area.
  • Works with area employers to develop internship opportunities, and identify employment needs.
  • Coordinates intake process that identifies student needs, challenges, and goals, and identifies resources to address challenges.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the college application process, financial aid process, and resources available to assist students.
  • Ensures a seamless connection for potential students with program coordinators, financial aid, and support services needed for success.
  • Evaluates outcomes annually.
  • Coordinates outreach and recruitment activities in designated area for identified programs.
  • Coordinates recruitment efforts with college marketing team.
  • Works with area employers to incorporate work-site visits into recruiting events.
  • Advises students in target areas, and develops educational plans.
  • Partners with college staff, IowaWORKS, and external partners to ensure efficient utilization of resources and transitions for students.
  • Is committed to providing quality service that meets or exceeds expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

The Career Navigator is on-site, assists students enrolling in identified programs and works to develop collaboration with employers in identified industry areas in order to connect students with work-based learning experiences, and ultimately with employment.

Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Salary Starting Range: $47,400-58,000 annually

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
