Job summary

Ascension in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Physician Assistant for General Surgery with 1.0 FTE and a 36 patient contact hour schedule. The role involves direct patient care, diagnoses, and collaboration with a team of providers in an EPIC environment.

The ideal candidate has a Wisconsin PA credential, BLS, and preferred ALS, with a Master's degree and prior PA experience. This full-time position supports Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital and offers comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Licensed Physician Assistant in Wisconsin (or eligible) prior to hire.
• BLS provider certification required; ALS preferred.
• Graduate of accredited PA program; Masters preferred.

Your future role at a glance

• Specialty: General Surgery

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM â 5:00 PM, with call coverage on a as-needed basis
• Team Structure: Work closely alongside a supportive team of 4 physician providers and 1 fellow APP.
• Conduct comprehensive patient health histories, physical assessments, and preventative screenings.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic procedures to guide effective clinical decision-making.
• Provide, manage, and thoroughly document direct treatment plans for a wide variety of surgical and specialty conditions.
• Deliver compassionate counseling and health education to patients and family caregivers regarding treatment options, care management, and community support resources

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s): Physician Assistant credentialed from the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Preferred Credential(s): Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program. Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience

• 1 year of experience preferred.
