Ascension Illinois Neurosurgery is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join a busy program within a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The team provides inpatient and outpatient care at two acute care hospitals and a rehab facility, offering a collaborative environment for growth.

The role includes covering inpatient census, ER calls, rounding, and coordinating surgeries, with optional OR assistance and a rotating on-call schedule.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 1 month of hire or transfer date.
• NCCPA credential before hire date.
• Masters degree preferred for PA/NP role.
• ALS/ACLS beneficial for practice.

• Cover inpatient census, ER consults, rounding, and coordinating inpatient surgeries.

• Join busy Neurosurgery practice
• Team supports Neurosurgery inpatient and outpatient service at two acute care hospitals and a rehab facility for Neurosurgeons, adults and pediatrics
• Cover inpatient census, first call ER, consults, rounding, coordinates inpatient surgeries
• Critical Care or Neuroscience bedside nursing clinical experience required
• Practice setting: Inpatient/Outpatient
• Assist in OR is optional
• On-call rotation for holidays, weekends and PTO coverage
• Surgical and on call experience preferred
• Team Camaraderie: Experience a close-knit, supportive neurosurgery team working together.
• Board Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• Eligible for state medical license and DEA/Controlled Substance

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Physician Assistant credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Preferred Credential(s):
  • Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program. Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience

• 1 year of experience preferred.
