Job summary

Qualifications

• Be dependable and able to work full time (38.75 hours per week), on-site in West Des Moines during Summer.
• Pursuing a college degree in data science or actuarial science is preferred.
• Completion of an actuarial exam is preferred but not required.
• Significant experience with spreadsheets and using them to solve actuarial problems.
• Knowledge of programming or statistical software such as VBA, SQL, R, Python or SAS.
• Strong mathematical and analytical ability to analyze and resolve problems.
• Excellent written and spoken communication in English.
• Ability to work on-site at our West Des Moines, Iowa office.

Responsibilities

• Develop rate level and rating factor revisions for annual rate changes.
• Gain working knowledge of automation to validate rating factors and actuarial processes.
• Compile information on competitor rating and coverage.
• Work with our competitive rating tool and internal data to prepare reports and maps.
• Utilize SQL and Excel to profile data and support projects.
• Learn about database structures and related concepts.
• Participate in corporate internship activities to learn about our culture and operations.
