Job summary

General Motors (GM) seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead owner-side structural decisions on major capital projects in Warren, MI. You will guide design reviews, risk assessments, and compliance with GM standards across planning, design, and construction phases.

You will collaborate with project leaders, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure safe, durable, and cost-effective solutions, while promoting BIM/VDC practices and rigorous technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, architectural engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering and owner-side capital project delivery.
• Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain within 12 months of appointment.
• Experience reviewing structural drawings, specifications, calculations, models, and codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical leadership and governance for GM structural matters across planning, design, construction and facility operations.
• Review and interpret structural calculations, drawings, specifications, models, and codes to identify gaps and decisions.
• Support front-end planning, design development, and construction-phase technical support for major capital projects.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and operations to ensure safe, durable, constructible solutions.
