Job summary

General Motors North America in Warren, Michigan is seeking a Senior Creative Designer to join a global, connected design team. You will lead interior design concepts, translate brand strategy into 2D and 3D proposals, and collaborate with engineering and sculpture teams.

You should have 5+ years in an OEM design studio, a design-oriented bachelor’s, strong visualization skills, and the ability to mentor others while managing multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in an OEM design studio.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Design (Automotive, Transportation, Industrial…).
• Strong understanding of form, 2-D to 3-D interpretation, and ability to visualize.
• Creativity, independence, Autonomy, Problem solving, design judgment, team spirit.
• Ability to work independently and lead a team as well as provide mentoring.
• Portfolio with sketches and ideations, production program experience samples.

Responsibilities

• Lead a design team to develop bold interior designs that support brand goals and enhance customer experience.
• Translate ideas into finished designs using 2D sketches, animations AI, 3D sketch tools, and collaborating with clay and digital sculpting teams.
• Collaborate with design, engineering and fabrication teams to develop new designs.
• Provide insight to leadership and act on guidance in a deadline-driven environment.
• Maintain knowledge of current design trends and technology; present ideas to management.
• Exhibit courage and challenge expectations.
