Job summary

The Door's East 9th Street Housing Program in New York, NY seeks a Per Diem Resident Assistant to support youth on-site during evening and overnight hours. You will monitor resident activities, respond to crises, and ensure safety in the building while reporting to the Program Supervisors.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, at least two years' experience with adolescents, and strong oral and written communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or HSE required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with adolescents.
• Experience with diverse at-risk populations (LGBTQ, homeless, mental illness).
• Knowledge of social services systems for urban youth.

Responsibilities

• Monitor resident activities and provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Follow directives from the building supervisor by email.
• Ensure Night Staff Policy and Procedures are followed.
• Complete accurate end-of-shift reports to supervisors.
• Be available for overnight or late-night shifts, including weekends.
• Implement positive youth development activities onsite.
• Document incidents and interventions with residents and security.
• Communicate with resident coaches and program management during crises.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and external events.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
