Job summary

LSS of South Dakota is looking for FT/PT Overnight Residential Counselor at Arise Youth Center in Sioux Falls, SD. You will supervise and support youth in shelter care, teach coping skills, and complete necessary reports.

Starting wage is $16.00 to $18.00 per hour; hours include afternoons, evenings, overnights and weekends. Benefits include 401(k) match, PTO frontload, paid holidays, and life insurance.

Qualifications

• Residential Worker: HS diploma or GED.
• Experience working with children.
• Equivalent education/experience.
• Be at least 21 and pass background checks.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license or obtain one.
• Must pass agency background checks for convictions.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and support for youth in shelter care and reception center.
• Provide direct client care and model appropriate boundaries.
• Teach coping and problem-solving skills.
• Prepare accurate and timely documentation and reports.
• Assess client’s needs and assist with services and plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide supervision and support for youth in shelter care and reception center. A qualified applicant will provide direct client care, maintain/model appropriate boundaries, and teach applicable coping and problem-solving skills. Complete reports and documentation as necessary. Prepare accurate and timely documentation and reports as necessary. Assess client’s needs, and assist them with appropriate services, support, decisions, and plans.

QUALIFICATIONS:Residential Worker:

• Must have a High School Diploma, or GED.
• Experience working with children.
• Possess an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Be at least 21 years old and willing to complete agency background checks.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license or obtain one with approved driver status.
• Must successfully complete all agency background checks, which include checks to detect criminal convictions of behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, and drug or sex crimes.

QUALIFICATIONS:Residential Counselor:

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in behavioral or social sciences (preferred), OR
• Have completed at least 60 semester credits and have one year of experience working with children, OR
• Possess an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Be at least 21 years old and willing to complete agency background checks.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license or obtain one with approved driver status.
• Must successfully complete all agency background checks, which include checks to detect criminal convictions of behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, and drug or sex crimes.
