Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota is hiring Residential Care and Support Workers for the Arise Youth Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Roles include supervising youth in shelter care, providing direct client care, and supporting plans for client needs.

Full-time and part-time shifts available with a variety of hours including early morning, day, afternoon, and weekends. Benefits and bonuses are provided based on status and tenure.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Be at least 21 years old and willing to complete agency background checks.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license or obtain one with approved driver status.
• Must successfully complete agency background checks for criminal convictions related to children, spousal abuse, and drug or sex crimes.

HOURS:Full-time 40 hour weeks

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide supervision and support for youth in shelter care and reception center. A qualified applicant will provide direct client care, maintain/model appropriate boundaries, and teach applicable coping and problem-solving skills. Complete reports and documentation as necessary. Prepare accurate and timely documentation and reports as necessary. Assess client’s needs, and assist them with appropriate services, support, decisions, and plans.

QUALIFICATIONS:Residential Worker:

• Must have a High School Diploma, or GED.
• Experience working with children.
• Possess an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Be at least 21 years old and willing to complete agency background checks.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license or obtain one with approved driver status.
• Must successfully complete all agency background checks, which include checks to detect criminal convictions of behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, and drug or sex crimes.

QUALIFICATIONS:Residential Counselor:

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in behavioral or social sciences (preferred), OR
• Have completed at least 60 semester credits and have one year of experience working with children, OR
• Possess an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Be at least 21 years old and willing to complete agency background checks.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license or obtain one with approved driver status.
• Must successfully complete all agency background checks, which include checks to detect criminal convictions of behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, and drug or sex crimes.
