Job summary

LSS of South Dakota is seeking compassionate Residential Care Workers to support justice-involved youth and teens in shelter care and reception. You will provide direct client care, model healthy boundaries, teach coping skills, and complete required reports with accuracy.

Full-time and part-time schedules are available, including day, afternoon, evening and overnight shifts. Sign-On Bonus for external candidates is available and benefits are provided to qualifying employees.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma, or GED.
• Experience working with youth is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in behavioral or social sciences is preferred, or at least 60 semester credits and one year of experience; equivalent combination may be considered.
• Be at least 21 years old and willing to complete agency background checks.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license or obtain one with approved driver status.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and support for youth in shelter care and reception center.
• Provide direct client care, maintain/model appropriate boundaries, and teach coping and problem-solving skills.
• Complete reports and documentation as necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide supervision and support for youth in shelter care and reception center. A qualified applicant will provide direct client care, maintain/model appropriate boundaries, and teach applicable coping and problem-solving skills. Complete reports and documentation as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a High School Diploma, or GED.
• Experience working with youth, is preferred.
• Hold a bachelor’s degree in behavioral or social sciences (preferred), OR
  • At least 60 semester credits and one year of experience working with children; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Be at least 21 years old and willing to complete agency background checks.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license or obtain one with approved driver status.
• Must successfully complete all required agency background checks, including checks for criminal convictions involving behavior harmful toward children, spousal abuse, and drug or sex crimes.
