BluePearl Pet Hospital in Paramus, NJ is seeking a skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our Overnight ER/ICU team. Prior veterinary assistant experience required, with schedule options of 3x12 or 4x10s and a pay range of $23.60–$32.80 per hour.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Paramus, NJ is seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our Overnight ER/ICU team. Prior veterinary assistant experience required.

Schedule: 3x12 or 4x10s

Pay: $23.60 - $32.80 / hour

Responsibilities of a Veterinary Assistant:

• Assist with nursing care for hospitalized patients in accordance with hospital standards of care and core values.
• Perform physical assessments by accurately obtaining heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time (CRT), mucous membrane color, temperature, respiratory rate, and respiratory effort.
• Understand the classification of commonly used medications, recognize associated side effects, and appropriately monitor therapeutic responses.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and durations under the direction of a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT).
• Perform diagnostic procedures, including digital radiography and laboratory sample collection and processing.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R. CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency in assigned CPR roles as directed by the attending clinician or supervisor.
• Engage with clients by assisting with patient triage, reviewing estimates, and providing discharge instructions.
• Stock, clean, and maintain the Emergency, ICU, and other designated hospital areas to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient patient care environment.
