BluePearl Paramus is seeking an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our team, offering $27.00–$51.00/hour with shift differentials for nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Prepare and monitor anesthesia during emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia; monitor equipment.
• Triage emergencies; obtain vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with correct positioning.
• Maintain understanding of normal vital ranges and alert clinicians.
• Initiate CPR for arrest risk and manage medications appropriately.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Paramus, NJ is seeking a skilled and compassionate Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our team!

$27.00 - $51.00 / hour

Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$6.00/hr. Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
