Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Paramus, NJ is seeking an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our team. The role offers shift differentials for nights and weekends and compensation ranges from $27.00 to $51.00 per hour, with VTS credentialing eligible for commensurate pay.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, perform radiography, monitor vitals, administer medications, perform phlebotomy, place IV catheters, feeding

Qualifications

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.

Responsibilities

• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Paramus, NJ is seeking a skilled and compassionate Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our team!

Pay: $27.00 - $51.00 / hour

Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We Also Offer Competitive Shift Differential Pay For Eligible Hours Worked For Nights And Weekends. Shift Differentials Are Based On a 4-hour Minimum. For Example

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential


• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential


• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$6.00/hr. Shift Differential

As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.


• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.


• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.


• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.


• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.


• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.


• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.


• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.


• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.


• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.


• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
