BluePearl Pet Hospital in Paramus, NJ seeks an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our team. The role includes anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery, along with triage of emergencies and vitals assessment.

You will use radiography and monitor patient status, interpret vital signs, and alert the veterinarian to changes. Excellent client communication and critical care skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as a veterinary technician in emergency or critical care.
• Proficient in anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery.
• Competent in triage, vitals assessment, and basic radiography.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and use monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergencies and record vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with correct patient positioning.
• Interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Initiate CPR for at-risk patients and manage IV access.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Paramus, NJ is seeking a skilled and compassionate Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our team!

Pay

$27.00 - $51.00 / hour

Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends. Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = +$4.50/hr. Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = +$6.00/hr. Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
