Job summary

Family Service of Rhode Island Inc seeks an overnight youth specialist to guide and supervise adolescents aged 13–17 in school and residential settings in Exeter, RI. You will implement Trauma Systems Therapy and other evidence-based practices, promoting safety, learning and positive decision making.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on experience, at least one year working with teens, and flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; candidates without a degree may be considered with equivalent hands-on experience.
• Minimum of one year working with adolescents in residential, therapeutic, or youth services settings.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic issues.
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• Reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and required vehicle provisions.
• Bilingual/ASL and multilingual skills may increase pay.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, hands-on support to youth in school and residential settings.
• Be a positive role model and encourage student involvement.
• Complete TST training and apply trauma-informed treatment methods.
• Collaborate with teachers, clinicians, and staff for a consistent trauma-informed approach.
• Transport students to appointments as required and document accordingly.
• Maintain program documentation and use the Credible EMR system.
• Oversee overnight tasks and ensure safety and order within the program.
